Accessibility

Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 requires that electronic and technology developed, procured, maintained or used by the federal government be accessible to people with disabilities. The law covers the full range of electronic and information technologies, including websites.

This website features many design elements that improve usability and accessibility in accordance with Section 508. For example, to help those with limited vision, bold and contrasting colors are used while color combinations that are difficult for color-blind individuals to distinguish have been avoided. The individual courses also feature straightforward section headings and links that are structured in a manner that makes them easy to find and understand. Finally, all audio is accompanied by closed captioning or an alternate PDF text version is available.
